IS THERE AN AIRPORT NEAR SAN DIEGO?

Yes! You can fly right into SAN DIEGO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT and the Constitution is a 5-10 minute eta.

 

CAN YOU RECOMMEND SOME HOTELS NEAR THE BOAT?

We recommend staying at The Sea Harbor Hotel. They offer a discounted rate for fishing anglers and family.

WHAT CAN I DO IF I PLAN TO ARRIVE EARLY?

There is many restaurants near the landing to eat at. You can check in with the landing. If crew in on deck you can store your gear in the port corner of the boat. Please do not board the Poseidon without talking to the crew first. No early boarding and getting bunks its a first come first serve process when the crew is ready to board everyone.

DO I NEED TO BRING BEDDING?

Yes everyone needs to bring bedding onboard a pillow and a sleeping bag works best. Please also bring a towel to shower.

FISH PROCESSING

The boat fillets fish onboard  for a fee. most fish are $8-$12 ea. for average size fish. Larger fish are cut for about .50 cents a pound

​

CREW GRATUITY

Its is customary to tip the crew 18-25% of your ticket price

​

ROD RENTALS

We offer some of the best rods and reels available to rent.

Most 30-40lb rod and reel combos are $50 per day and include hooks. Heavier Rod and Reels setups 80-100lb are $150 per day and include a loaner knife jig w/ 200lb florocarbon rigging.

 

WHAT IS THE BEST TIME TO BOOK?

If you're from out of the area I would suggest a 2.5 day trip. Gets the most opportunity for your trip. Trips depart at 7pm and fish sun up to sun down for 2 days and you return in the morning to get your fish processed or beat the traffic home.

WHAT SHOULD I PACK?

Pack warm clothes and a pair of short or tall rubber boots.

Your personal medicines and any comfort snacks you wish. If you have any dietary needs please let use know before the trip departures and if its minor please let the chef know and he will be happy to adjust the meal plan for you.

WHAT AIRLINE CAN I FLY TO LORETO?

We based our schedule on Alaska Airlines departing from LAX.

We have anglers that fly out of Tijuana and fly with Volaris and have great success. We use them frequently and have found they have great rates. You may have to fly in a day before and get a hotel or may get lucky and land similar to the rest of the group

WHERE DO WE GO WHEN WE LAND IN LORETO?

Since anglers may be Landing at different times. We decided not to include the transfer to the hotel in the ticket price. Take a cab or shuttle to La Mision Hotel.

​

Its a short drive. Check into the hotel, give your name and say your with the Poseidon and your reservation will be there and paid for.

They may ask for a credit card for extras at the hotel like bar, or evening food. The hotel has a restaurant that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. We suggest getting up early enough to have breakfast and be 15 minutes early for pick-up.

CAN I TAKE FISH HOME?

Yes, We process fish and  vacuum seal them for you. Most anglers buy soft coolers from AO coolers and get the 36 can bags.

IS DINNER GOING TO BE SERVED THE NIGHT OF THE DEPARTURE?

Yes, We will have a fine dinner prepared and served by Chef Antonio.

Please let us know if you have any allergies are dietary restrictions at time of booking.

ARE MEALS INCLUDED?

Yes, meals, snacks, beer, soda, and bottled water

HOW MANY DAYS OF FISHING ARE WE GOING TO HAVE?

If your trip departs at 11am, you can expect to be fishing in 3-4 hours.

We fish the coast of Mag Bay for Yellowtail, cabrilla and other bottom species. We fish daily from sun up to sun down and get everyone up early for the tuna bite, Time will be announced

nightly. If your trip departs later in the pm we will be on the same schedule minus the first days fishing. We will instead have dinner in the bay and depending on our stock may make bait right after dinner and depart for the grounds immediately after. We will announce what our plan is daily and you will be well informed.

CAN WE FISH AT NIGHT?

Yes, we have crew awake, but we will announce the best time for everyone to be awake for the bite

​

SHOULD I CHARTER OR GO ON A OPEN PARTY?

Charter is always best, If you have a group that would like to take the entire boat. If not we conveniently have open trip with like minded anglers that enjoy fishing like you do.

HOW CAN I PAY FOR MY TRIP?

The Poseidon accepts cash, credit card, or debit.

If you wish to add you tip to the trip before departure, please let us know.

HOW MANY RODS CAN I BRING DOWN?

Mexico allows no more than 4 rods to be brought at a time.

We will have a opportunity for our anglers to place their gear onboard with their name on it, and it will be kept safe onboard. We will also be happy to bring your gear back to San Diego for you.

HOW MUCH CASH SHOULD I BRING DOWN?

Since everything is included, some cash when you come in and  gratuity for the crew

​

SHOULD I PACK LIKE A LONG RANGE TRIP?

No. We have bedding onboard, and if you took advantage of loading your gear onboard before the Poseidon leaves dock, you will only need a backpack with your personal items for the hotel stay and travel time to the boat.

​

WHEN SHOULD I BOOK MY AIRLINE TICKET?

ASAP. The best rates are always amore affordable  the earlier you buy.

​

SHOULD I BUY TRIP INSURANCE?

We recommend  trip insurance. Anything can happen.

​

DO WE GET THE SAME DATES FROM LAST YEARS TRIP?

Yes, you have first right of refusal. We have usually a group or 2 on standby wanting to get onboard. It is good as a charter master to have a plan before he/she gets off the boat if the group would like to book for the following year.

​

CAN YOU RECOMMEND SOME HOTELS NEAR THE BOAT?

We recommend staying in Loreto. The La Mision has a group rate for Poseidon anglers and family. Our shuttle will be picking up everyone from the hotel at the time on the schedule.

​

SHOULD I BRING A HARNESS?

No need for a harness, a soft sided belt if you wish.
